Kinostudio, Tirana: a renter’s guide

Kinostudio sits on the north-east side of Tirana, on the road that climbs towards Dajti, and is mostly housing: older apartment blocks with newer buildings among them. It is handy for film and media students, as the Marubi Academy of Film and Multimedia is here, and for hospital staff, since QSUT and American Hospital 2 are close. Line L11 runs to Porcelan and the centre, L15A crosses the city to Kombinat, and line Q heads to Qesarakë.

Where it is

Kinostudio is in the north-east and belongs to Administrative Unit no. 4; Skanderbeg Square is about 3.2 km away. It runs into Porcelan, and Fresku starts just to the east.

The film-studio neighbourhood

The name comes from Kinostudio “Shqipëria e Re”, the state film studio built in 1950–52 on the fringe of the city as it was then. Its grounds now house the Marubi film and multimedia academy, the National Center of Cinematography and TV studios, and the main building is a listed cultural monument. Marubi students can live within walking distance of class.
